Arriving

Mohammad from ISA ( International Studies Abroad) and two drivers were awaiting our group of seven after we went through customs and got our visas.  The air was warm and felt stuffy but it might have been just us being overdressed to make sure we did not offend anyone with exposed body parts.  The drive to our hotel took about 40 minutes.  It was a Friday night and in Jordan, to my knowledge this was considered their prayer, and family day.  The streets were super busy and the driving scared me.  There were really no rules compared to in the US.  Lanes were not used, you just kind of go with the flow.  It was about 8-9 pm and there were so many people just out on the streets.  Our driver informed us that the busy streets were due to people either going to see their families, or coming home from seeing their families.  When we finally arrived at the hotel, we were in luck as a wedding ceremony was about to begin.  The laughter, enthusiastic crowd lifted the air.  It was a great pleasure to be able to watch the entrance ceremony with the loud drums, as they danced in celebration. It was a great way to start my first night in Jordan.
Our group is staying at the Arena Hotel in Amman across the street from the King Hussein Cancer Center where we will be studying at.  Here is a picture of my room, and the view from my window.
